How To Influence Purchase Decisions For Your Brand


Earlier in March, before the lockdown, I was at an outlet in Gwarinpa, Abuja, where a particular device from three different competitors are sold, while I was there for a purchase, a young man entered and specifically requested for a device from one of the three competitors from the sales person.

As a curious Brand Strategist, I asked him why he preferred that particular brand, and he answered “I did an online survey of the three major competitors, and the result suggested this brand”, so he came to purchase without hesitation.

His response taught me few brand lessons- the influential power of smart brand awareness, digital presence, positive customer reviews, and most importantly, good customer experience and brand value in the 21st century competitive market. These are some of the major factors that influence buyers to buy from a brand.


The internet has greatly influenced how customers make purchase decisions and also changed the way companies present themselves to the masses. Today, over 74% of savvy consumers frequently use social networks to make purchase decision from a brand.
