Employee Apathy And Digital Opportunities

 About three months ago, I told two people in my church that I foresaw a massive increase in Employee Apathy among most 9-5 employees as a result of the increasing opportunities on the internet. Digital opportunities are evolving and many people are getting the hang of this new reality.

As a result of these well-paying digital opportunities, coupled with the recent increased transportation cost, most people no longer have interest in haunting for or being committed to conventional (9am-5pm) jobs, while some switched fully to global remote jobs which give them flexible work schedule, good payment and juicy working conditions.

Just yesterday, Elon Musk paid millions to Twitter influencers for their huge engagement, reach and quality content. With this reality, it's possible to get paid millions monthly for generating rich content and engagement. Barely a month ago, Elon gave a young Twitter user $1 million (#800m) in exchange for the guy's X Twitter account. Unequivocally, the internet is the new gold and oil.

I have seen people decline job offers when the pay isn't up to what the internet can give or gives them. A close person was referred for an Accounting job 3 days ago, he left the job 2 days after because he already earns more than what the 9-5 will pay. In December 2022, I left a multi-million naira brand I used to offer Brand Management consulting in Abuja for some reasons, a few days ago I was called back for full time but I declined for personal reasons.. Employee-apathy is on the increase.
